Dumb windows question
I just now in got an Acer Want One running win8 that has a terrible HD.
I can get a USB stick from Acer for $45 with everything else needed to put the machine here we are at factory default once a new HD is installed but I'd rather save some money while not having to put on all that preloaded rubbish.
Which leads me to the question: For win7 you can just install the os as a demo and then activate it afterwards as the activation keys are in the actual bios. Is win8 the same or should you have the certificate of reliability code to activate the particular OS?
The idea is rather than pay to get the usb stick, I am able to just download win8.1 through MS and do a flash install. Sure it will take extended personal time wise, but it will have the benefit of being a cleanse install with just the people and things the laptop requirements.
I've never install win8 except for on a virtual machine and i also have the activation code.
The appliance does not have a COA sticker on the bottom.

I hate the concept of having all the preloaded garbage on the machine but I most likely will be able to do a clean deploy once the machine is in business again and I upgrade for you to win8.1.

Yep that's my objective, get win8 installed, make the succeed 8.1 install by usb, do a completely contemporary install from usb and i also should be golden.
